Fire crews clear smoke-logged properties after two oven blazes

FIRE crews had to clear two smoke-logged properties over the weekend due to oven-related fires.

Firefighters from Edlington, Adwick and Doncaster were called to a property in Balby, at 11.22am on Saturday after some takeaway boxes set light on top of a hob.

Crews spent an hour tackling the blaze on Broomhouse Lane. There were no injuries.

Firefighters from Parkway, Rotherham and Aston Park were called to Normanville Avenue in Brinsworth at 3.18pm on Sunday. 

A spokesperson for South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue said: “Upon arrival, they found a smoke-logged property due to overheated cooking in an oven.

"Firefighters cleared the smoke and left at around 4.01pm.

"There were no injuries."
