Extra enforcement staff to patrol Rotherham's streets to tackle littering

EXTRA enforcement staff are patrolling the streets to tackle problems like litter, fly-tipping, dog fouling and illegal parking.

RMBC’s strengthened joint arrangement with Doncaster Council will continue to be delivered by private firm Kingdom.

It follows a successful pilot last year, when 6,673 fines were handed out for litter and dog fouling.

Cllr Emma Hoddinott, cabinet member for waste, roads and community safety, said: “We want all of our residents to take responsibility for their environment and by increasing our capacity to tackle these offences.

“We hope that the minority of people who do cause problems will think twice in the future rather than risk a fine.”
