The man, who was dressed in dark clothing and wearing a hat, was hiding in bushes near the road.

Another incident on Upper Wortley Road was reported at 8.35pm on February 6.

A spokesperson said the man had reportedly exposed himself and committed a “lewd act”, before fleeing when he was spotted.

An e-fit image of a suspect has been released by officers to help with their enquiries.

Police said they were aware of the similarities between this series and a recent report of a sexual assault in Chapeltown, Sheffield.

It was not thought that the two matters are connected but all lines of enquiry were being pursued, they added.
