Deaths of Covid-positive patients double but inpatient numbers fall

THERE have been five further deaths at Rotherham Hospital among patients testing positive for Covid-19 over the past week — up from two last week — but inpatient numbers have fallen.

There were 24 patients in hospital as last Wednesday morning who had tested positive for the virus, with the figure dropping to 17 today.

Two of these patients were in critical care.

Overall, 4,560 inpatients at the hospital have tested positive for the virus since the start of the pandemic.
