Dearne Valley couple's fundraising for India flood victims passes £7,500 mark

A DEARNE Valley couple who are helping with the flood relief effort in a region of southern India have now raised more than £7,500.

Sue and Paul Nortcliff, of Middlecliffe, who were featured in last week’s Weekender, run Jasmine Cottage in Kovalam in the region of Kerala which has suffered its worst flooding for a century.

Family, friends and former cottage guests have helped the couple raise more than £7,500 which will be used in the flood relief efforts.

The couple’s daughter-in-law, Karen Mullins, who is the Weekender office manager, said: “They have got a lot of Indian friends there and that’s why they wanted to help.

“I’ve had seven trips out there and the people are so happy. It’s just such a welcoming place. It’s like a second home for Sue and Paul.”
