Covid deaths more than double, but patient numbers and cases fall

TWELVE more people have died at Rotherham Hospital after testing positive for Covid-19 — more than double the number of deaths last week.

Five people died last week and positive cases rocketed.

As of this morning, the number of inpatients being treated with the virus fell to 48 from 62 last week. No patients were in critical care at the hospital.

According to the latest figures, 1,585 people have tested positive in the borough in the last seven days — falling more than 75 per cent from last week’s 6,620.

The total number of inpatients who have tested positive since Covid-19 began is now 4,106. 

More than 85 per cent of the population in Rotherham aged over 12 have had their first dose of the vaccine, 80.5 per cent have had their second and more than two thirds (63.1 per cent) have received a booster jab.
