The royal reward scheme is presented to projects across the county which contribute to their area and inspire others.

The Rotary club works to develop links in the community, including hands-on help at schools and charities as well as the annual Chiristmas sleigh run.

Four members travelled to St Paul’s Church at the University of Huddersfield last Wednesday (12) to receive the award from the Lord Lieutenant of South Yorkshire, Andrew Coombe.

Rotarian Melanie Hughes said: “We are honoured to be receiving this award. Our members try very hard to help and support the community, but if it wasn’t for the community the club couldn’t do what it does.

“So really, the club is receiving this award on behalf of the community that comes and supports all the events and activities we do, so thank you, people of Rotherham, we hope you feel we are making a difference too.”
