Charity’s new gift shop opens in “wonderful building”

A CHARITY has “re-imagined” a town centre retail unit with the opening of a new gift shop.

Rotherham Hospice – which has five charity shops across the borough – has opened a gift shop in the historic Imperial Buildings full of new stock including cards, accessories, children’s items, decorations, and present ideas for stag and hen parties and weddings.

Stephen King, director of income generation and communications at the hospice, said: “We are absolutely delighted. It’s fantastic to open our shop in this wonderful building to help us raise much-needed funds for the hospice.

“All our stock is brand new and ideal for birthdays, weddings, anniversaries – and no doubt the focus will soon be on Christmas.

“The people of Rotherham really do support the hospice and we’ve had such a positive response to opening the new shop.”

The Mayor of Rotherham Cllr Robert Taylor and Mayoress Tracy Taylor were the first customers through the door at the official opening, with the Mayoress buying an orange sparkly purse.

The Mayor said: “It’s brilliant what the hospice has done in re-imagining this space and I hope a venture like this can bring many people in through its doors.”
