POLICE have released a CCTV image of a man they want to trace after an armed robbery at a newsagents where staff were threatened with a knife.

Two men stole cash and cigarettes from McColls newsagents on Broom Valley Road, Broom, in the raid at 9.30pm on Saturday.

One of the robbers threatened staff with a knife and both demanded access to the safe, said a spokeswoman.

"The suspects were unable to get into the safe but forced the till open, and then fled the shop with a quantity of cash and cigarettes," she added. 

Police believe the man pictured could hold vital information and are appealing for him, or anyone who knows him, to get in touch.
