Busy night for fire crews tackling vehicle and derelict property blazes

FIREFIGHTERS were called out five times overnight to tackle deliberate and accidental blazes overnight.

Two fire crews from Dearne station attended a fire, believed to have been started deliberately, in a derelict property at 8.35pm on Cooperative Street, Goldthorpe, and left the scene an hour later.

Aston Park firefighters spent half an hour at a deliberate rubbish fire at 10.20pm on Cantilupe Crescent, Aston.

Two fire crews from Rotherham and Dearne stations then spent nearly two and a half hours dealing with an accidental fire involving pallets at 10.45pm on Tenter Street, Thornhill. They came away at 1.10am.

Firefighters from Edlington station tackled a deliberate grassland fire at 11.05pm on Windermere Close, Mexborough, leaving at 11.30pm.

A car was later deliberately set on fire at 4.25am on Nursery Road, North Aston. Firefighters from Aston Park station attended, coming away at 5am.
