Busy night for fire crews across borough

FIRE crews were called out five times overnight to tackle blazes across the borough, including a cherry picker which was targeted by arsonists.

A wheelie bin was deliberately set on fire at 7.50pm on Kingsway, Thurnscoe. Firefighters left the scene at 8.15pm.

Firefighters from Aston Park station attended a deliberate rubbish fire at 8pm on South Street, Dinnington. They were there until 8.20pm.

Crews spent 45 minutes dealing with an accidental tree on fire at 12.10am on Croft Road in Balby. 

The cherry picker was deliberately set on fire at 12.50am on Phoenix Riverside, Templeborough. Firefighters from Rotherham station attended and left at 1.20am.

A vehicle was later deliberately set on fire at 4.45am in Edlington. Firefighters spent 45 minutes tackling the blaze on Queen's Crescent.
