Arsonists strike five times in two nights

ARSONISTS struck five times over two nights, deliberately setting alight bins and wasteland.

A wheelie bin was deliberately set on fire at 8.05pm on Lister Avenue, Balby, on Sunday night. Firefighters attended the incident and left the scene at 8.30pm.

Crews later tackled a deliberate fire involving a tree at 8.30pm on Milano Rise, Darfield, leaving at 8.55pm.

Firefighters then spent 15 minutes at a deliberate wheelie bin fire at 9.25pm on Roberts Road, Edlington. 

Crews from Aston station were called to a deliberate wasteland fire at 10pm on Leicester Road, Dinnington. The crew left the scene at 10.30pm.

And on Monday night rubbish was deliberately set on fire at 11.25pm on Barnsley Road, Darfield, with crews leaving the scene at 12am.

In total, crews spent more than two hours tackling the deliberate fires over the two nights.

Earlier this month, the Advertiser reported how figures from South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue revealed crews tackled, on average, two deliberate fires a day in Rotherham in the first six months of this year.
