Age UK Rotherham warning over phone scam
Chief executive Lesley Dabell said: “We were alerted by a concerned family member who received a call but who was immediately suspicious and contacted us to ask if it was genuine.
“We were able to confirm that Age UK Rotherham had not called them and now want to alert others in case they receive similar calls, especially during the coronavirus situation.

Regulations mean the charity has suspended or changed some services, with staff staying in touch to respond to requests for help.
They are currently only visiting existing customers — and never call on older people at home without a visit being previously arranged.
The charity is contactable on 01709 835214 between 9.30am and 3.30pm, Monday to Friday, or via www.ageuk.org.uk/rotherham.
