WI members bring “frills” to town centre

WI MEMBERS at Rotherham’s newest branch are planning a “frill”-ing afternoon in the town centre as they showcase their creative talents and aim to drum up new members.

The newly-formed Kimberworth Women’s Institute, which was founded last November, has organised the Frills & Thrills vintage market and swap shop at the Imperial Buildings on Saturday from 10am to 3pm.

Treasurer Helen Thorpe said it would feature the chance to swap clothes, plus craft stalls, cakes and refreshments.

All proceeds will go to the WI’s funds at Rotherham Women’s Counselling Service.

Helen added: “We are a less traditional group and our average member age is around 30.

“We set up in November 2014 and already have around 25 members with some coming from as far afield as Sheffield.”
