SURGERY TIMES: Cllr John Turner, who represents the Hellaby ward on Rotherham Council, holds a surgery at Wickersley Library and Community Centre, Bawtry Road, on the first Tuesday of each month 5.30-6.30pm.

ROTHER VALLEY RETIRED TEACHERS: The August meeting of the association took place in the Broom Methodist Church Hall. A letter was received from Meg Sewell thanking members for the card and gifts presented to her following the announcement of her MBE. Payment in full for the November trip to Castle Howard should be made at the September meeting. 50th anniversary photographs are available. Ken Grainger talked about past railway journeys from Sheffield Victoria to Chesterfield to Victoria Central. Monthly raffle winners were Janet French, Pat Fallon, Margaret Kettleborough, and Margaret Hempsell. The next meeting is on September 10 when Dr. Murray Wilson will give a talk entitled What They Didn’t Tell You in Medical School.

ST ALBAN’S CHURCH: Bishops Graham Cray and Chris Edmondson will be visiting our church for services on September 13 as part of the Archbishop of York’s Crossroads Mission in Sheffield diocese.

SECOND NATURE LIFE SUPPORT: A number of organisations and other charities have been supported with outreach work and support. The group has installed bug huts, gathered seeds ready for next spring and cut some perennial plants back.
