PARISH CHURCH: January 24 – Rev Sue Davis presided at the 9.45am Parish Eucharist.  At 11.30am Ada Marie Harrison was baptised. There was no evening prayer because a United Service celebrating the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity was held at St Cuthbert’s 5pm. A service was held for residents of Ackroyd House on Monday afternoon and on January 26 evening the Mission Partnership Steering Group met at St Cuthbert’s. Octopus Club met in the Parish Hall 4pm on January 27 and the Prayer Group met in church 6pm. January 31 was Candlemas or the Presentation of Christ in the Temple with Parish Eucharist and Starfish Club at 9.45am and in the evening there was a joint service with friends from the Methodist church. Holy Communion takes place each Wednesday 10.30am. Contact Dhoe 364430. 

 

METHODIST CHURCH: On January 24, the Junior Church was led by Jed Davis. Bible study took place in the afternoon followed by a discussion to make arrangements for the 150th anniversary event in April. Rev Jenny Park led the evening service. The Craft Goup met on January 25.

HERITAGE SOCIETY: The next meeting in on February 9 and will feature a talk on a Whiston Man with Many Talents. The meeting is in the church meeting room 7pm.
