OUR LADY AND ST JOSEPH’S CATHOLIC PRIMARY: The recent Peter Pan Dress Up Day raised £95 for Great Ormond Street Hospital. On November 4 there will be a Bags 2 School collection – parents/carers are asked to not take their bags back before this date as the school does not have any storage facilities.

Hide AdRSPB RECENT SIGHTINGS: On the Mere/Wader Scrape there were sightings recently of a marsh harrier, pintail, great crested grebe, kestrel and buzzard over the woods at the back. From the Bittern Hide there were views of a water rail and in the reedbeds a sighting of a kingfisher from the screen and goldfinches from the reedbed hide. On Wath Ings there were the following sightings; six green sandpiper, two dunlin, two black tailed godwits, three ruff, a spotted redshank, 10 snipe, nine little egret, 274 golden plover and lapwing. A siskin was seen at a feeding station and a jack snipe was seen on Gypsy Marsh. The following have been seen at the centre recently: two little egret, seven-plus snipe, 51 wigeon, nine shoveler, 28 teal, 55 lapwing, four meadow pipits, a marsh harrier and 37 pochard. There has also been the first sighting this Autumn of a female goldeneye. The marsh harrier was seen at Old Moor too, flying near island number five on the Mere. Also present was the drake pintail and a little egret.
WATH WOMEN’S INSTITUTE: At the October annual meeting a new committee was voted in. The group meets on the third Wednesday in the month in St James’ Hall 7.30pm. The November meeting will be Make It for Christmas.
