2016 ANNUAL TOWN GALA: The Wath-upon-Dearne Community and Montgomery Hall Partnership is organising the Wath-upon-Dearne 2016 Annual Town Gala in the Wath Hall grounds, Church Street, Wath on July 9 1-4pm. Activities will include local school choirs, a concert band, martial arts exhibition, flower show in Montgomery Hall and a dog show. 48TH ROTHERHAM SCOUT GROUP: This Newhill group meets at 88A Chapel Street in Wath. For boys and girls. Beavers aged 6-8 meet Tuesday 6-7.30pm, Cubs aged 8-10 meet Mondays 6.30-8pm, Scouts aged 10-14 meet Thursdays 7-8.30pm. Contact 01709 586649.

ART GROUP: Held in St Joseph’s Church Hall on Tuesdays 11am-2pm. This group is for people of all abilities. Participants need to take along their own materials. Cost £6 per week. Contact Pete 07548038397 or call into the hall any Tuesday.

REPTILE PICS: Local people are being asked to share their photographs of local reptiles as part of a survey by the Dearne Valley Landscape Partnership. The partnership’s aim is to build up a picture of the numbers of lizards, worms and snakes found in our woodlands, verges, waterways, hedges and shrubland. DEARNE VALLEY LIFESAVING CLUB: The club is organising a fundraising swim of 125 miles to mark the 125th anniversary of the Royal Life Saving Society. The event at Manvers Lake on June 18 is also being organised to mark Drowning Prevention Week. Anyone taking part will be given the option to paddle around the lake rather than swim. People can turn up on the day and do as many or as few laps as they wish as all swims/paddles will contribute to the final total. Some members of the Manvers Waterfront Boat Club are taking part and any monies raised by them will be split between the Dearne Valley Lifesaving Club and the Waterfront Boat Club to help purchase new equipment. WATH LIBRARY: Free workshops to help youngsters with their computer skills. The Code Club runs on Thursdays 3.45pm to give instruction on how to create animations, games, websites and more. Contact 01709 873542.

DEARNE VALLEY RAMBLERS: June 8 – 6.30pm: an easy 5.5 mile circular ramble taking in the River Dearne, Denaby Ings and on to High Melton and Barnburgh. Meet at the Harlington Inn car park in Harlington DN5 7HT. All welcome to join walks. www.ramblers.org.uk/dearne-valley.

 

ALL SAINTS CHURCH GARDEN PARTY: To celebrate the Queen’s 90th birthday, a garden party will be held at All Saints Parish Church in Wath on June 11 1pm.
