COLOURING COMPETITION: Jasper Chestnut was the winner of the Minion Colouring Competition that was organised by the staff at the town’s Market Place branch of the Spar supermarket. Jasper won a giant minion. Amelia Hope Wilson was the runner up and collected a colouring set. All 50 entrants were presented with a loot bag containing crayons, book and chocolate. Money from the competition entry fee and from the raffle totalled £70 that will benefit the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children.

MONUMENTAL DECISION: Members of Tickhill Town Council (TTC) have met with a surveyor to discuss the potential maintenance work that may be necessary on the town's landmark Buttercross monument in the centre of the town. The council is sourcing a structural survey to determine the condition of the ancient monument for which TTC has a duty of care. The stone built Buttercross in Market Place that was constructed in 1777 is one a small number of similar monuments across the country and it is the centre piece of the town's popular annual Christmas Eve carol service.

PAT ON BACK: The team of Tickhill Horticultural Society members that made the scarecrow for the town’s recent annual festival are giving themselves a pat on the back. Keith and Pat Hall, Roy Lawton and Pat Baldwin and their colleagues created the entry named Patty-O-Chair that could been seen at the entrance to Alderson Drive and that was awarded a highly commended rosette by the judges of the competition.

PARKING PROBLEM: The committee at Tickhill Cricket Club has asked users of its facilities to utilise its car park and to cease from parking vehicles on the roadside at Alderson Drive and on the DMBC owned grassed area outside the ground where the cricket club has confirmed that it is in favour of the local authority painting double yellow lines. Tickhill Town Council has received complaints from residents regarding the inappropriate parking of vehicles alongside parts of Sunderland Street. The council is considering asking DMBC to send out its parking wardens to potentially impose fines upon illegal parkers.

CASTLE TRIP: Members of Tickhill and District Local History Society (TDLHS) have an opportunity to visit the historic city of Lincoln on a trip that has been organised by the group. The history away day is planned for Friday, June 10 and TDLHS secretary Dorothy Bradley is taking bookings.
