CHURCH SERVICES: The times and locations of Sunday services are – 1st and 2nd Sundays 10am at St Peter’s Church; 3rd and 4th Sundays 10am at St Leonard’s Church; 5th Sundays usually at St Leonard’s unless a change is notified in the newsletter.

 

ST GERARD’S CATHOLIC PRIMARY SCHOOL: Poppies – the school’s box of poppies has arrived and they will be on sale until Remembrance Day. There is also a selection of wristbands etc priced from 50p to £1 which will be on sale in the school office. Handmade With Love – Mrs Ellison, Mrs Frost and Mr Des Maher interviewed 10 students for various positions in the school’s Handmade with Love business. The new employees are: Maddison Churms - marketing manager, Brett Hickman and Shannon Walker - marketing deputies, Jessica Peart - finance manager, Finnlay Cromwell - finance deputy, Kieran Slack and Teegan Cardwell - finance assistants, Amelia Gurran - business manager, Natasha Browne and Hannah McLoughlin - business deputies. The Big Dig – as part of the Stone Age topic, Class 3 dug up the field on Big Dig Day. They found objects including Stone Age axes, spears and even diamonds. Inside they created a mini Stonehenge, necklaces, cave paintings and baked rock cakes. The class will be sharing more about the day in its class assembly on November 25. Building Fund – the school asks for a contribution from each family of 60p per week, which can also be paid as £8 per term or £24 per year. The school menu has changed from November 2-5 when there is a special bonfire menu of a hotdog or minced beef pie, parkin and custard or cinder toffee biscuit. After School Clubs – Monday: football (Y3-6) 3.15-4.15 pm; Tuesday: High Fives (Y4-6) 3.15-4.15pm, choir (Y2-6) 3.15-4.15pm; Thursday: Reading Circle (Y3-6) 3.15-4.15pm, board games (Y1-3) 3-4pm. Birthdays – Mutsa Mswaka. Term dates for 2015/16 – November 2-December 18, January 4-February 5, February 15-March 24, April 11-May 27, school closed May 2, June 6-July 19. A teacher training day is on April 8. One further day will be announced. HOLY TRINITY CHURCH, DALTON: Church services – Sunday 9am mass, Monday 6pm mass. Healing services as notified. November 8 – rememberance mass 9am. November 14 – Christmas fayre at Dalton Parish Hall, Doncaster Road 1-3pm.
