CHURCH SERVICES: The times and locations of Sunday services are – 1st and 2nd Sundays 10am at St Peter’s Church; 3rd and 4th Sundays 10am at St Leonard’s Church; 5th Sundays usually at St Leonard’s unless a change is notified in the newsletter.

 

ST GERARD’S CATHOLIC PRIMARY SCHOOL: Class 4 descended 140 metres to the coalface at Caphouse Colliery in Wakefield. It was a chance to see at first hand, what the miners did and how mining has changed over the past 200 years. Children in Class 1 retold the story of Noah’s Ark. Children from Class 5 visited St Bede’s to attend the launch of P J Murray’s new book Kruschmeister. There were opportunities to listen to him read extracts from the book and to train with players from Rotherham Utd. In the afternoon he came to school to sign copies of the book. Holy Week is the last week of Lent and special liturgies are planned – March 21: Mass in church 9.30am; March 23: a thinking stop reflection 9.30am. Each morning during Holy Week, children, parents, grandparents etc are invited to join staff to say the Stations of the Cross 8.15am. Easter egg raffle – tickets can be bought for 20p each before and after school., proceeds to The Mini-bus Appeal. St Patrick’s Celebration Race Night on March 19 – 7.30-11pm at Dalton Parish Hall, tickets £10 (adults only) available from school at the end of the school day, or contact Kate 07864861629, proceeds towards St Gerard’s Minibus fund. Class assemblies – April 13 9.15am Class 5 Thornbridge assembly. After School Clubs – Monday: football 3.15-4.15pm, health, nutrition and fitness 3.15-4.30pm; Tuesday: choir 3.15-4.15pm, KS2 tennis 3.15-4.15pm; Wednesday: choir 3.15-4.15pm; Thursday: Y6 SPAG Club 3.15-4.15pm. Golden Stars – Emily Gilbank, Luan Newey, Miriam Archer-Siddall. Birthdays – Szymon Prychodko, Isabella Lister, Annabelle Savage. March 19 – Race Night. March 21 – start of Holy Week. March 23 – Journey thorough Holy Week reflection. May – Y2 SATS. From May 9 – Y6 SATS week.
