RAWMARSH METHODIST CHURCH: On October 4 harvest festival was celebrated with Rev Alistair Sharp. The Prayer Group met 10am on October 6. 

 

9TH ROTHERHAM SCOUT GROUP: Beavers completed their International Award, then began work on their Flight Award. First they discussed the flight of the bird, the use of feathers in various seasons and then designed their own aeroplane ready for a flight race in the main hall. The longest flight was won by Sam Batersby, second Mathew Boardman and third Jayden Thomas. To finish this award there is a planned visit to Elvington Air Museum on October 17. Beaver of the Week was Hayden Atkinson and Beaver of the Month was Carter Jay Fenton. The trip to the Civic Theatre in December is full. Cubs have started their My Faith Award with visiting guest Rev Alistair Sharpe who discussed with them the objects found in a church and their use. Milly Marshall and Mollie Fisher were awarded the Silver Chief Scout Award as they moved up to scouts. The scouts have been continuing their work on Personal Challenge Award with survival skills in various scenarios. They are also planning their next visit to the Austerfield Observatory near Doncaster.

RAWMARSH AND DISTRICT CHORAL SOCIETY: October 17 – A Victorian Pot Pourri of Gilbert and Sullivan and More at the Methodist Church, High Street Centre 7.15pm. The musical director is Jeff Tiller with Clare Wheat soprano, Zena Bradley alto, Richard Nortcliffe tenor and Stephen Godward bass. Accompanists are Jonathan Gooing and Nigel Gyte. Tickets £8 each.

 

ASHWOOD PRIMARY SCHOOL: Y1 and Y2 have visited the Chestnut Centre. On October 16 the photographer will be in school for individual photographs.

 

RYECROFT INFANTS SCHOOL: A trip is planned to take classes 1 and 2 to see the pantomime Aladdin at Sheffield Lyceum Theatre on December 9.

 

MACMILLAN COFFEE MORNING: Held at the home of correspondent Jill Rhodes, it raised £492.70. All raffle prizes have been claimed.
