101 PHONE NUMBER: Figures show that there are many people who have been unable to get through to the police using 101 local number. They have hung up the telephone after being kept on hold for long periods of time rather than wait and report a crime. South Yorkshire Police are to replace this call system at an estimated cost of £12 million. The 101 system has been in place since 2014 but the time taken to answer calls to this number has more than tripled in the South Yorkshire area.
