ST BEDE’S CHURCH: The Lent lunch will be held at St Bede’s on March 2. The finance and liturgy groups met in the week. Bishop Ralph has invited any married couples to join in a Mass in celebration of marriage on April 15 at St Marie’s Cathedral 7pm. An update on the restoration of the organ is available on the parish website under the music section. Readers at Mass met to practise recently. In this Year of Mercy the Holy Father has invited parishioners to spend some part of 24 hours with the Lord on March 4 at the Church of the Immaculate Conception, details on the noticeboard in the porch.

 

ST PAUL’S CHURCH: Stations of The Cross was held on February 19 with Joyce Mann officiating. Family Communion was celebrated on February 21 with Rev Michael Jackson officiating. Family Communion will be celebrated on Sunday 10.30am. Lent services – Stations of The Cross on Fridays February 26 and March 4, 11, 18 7pm; Maundy Thursday March 24 7pm; Good Friday March 25 7pm. The Rotherham Local History Society will meet at St Paul’s on March 19 10.30am when Winthrop Park will be the topic of speaker Carol Bowser £2. The society meets each month, annual subscription £11. As part of HM Queen Elizabeth II’s 90th birthday celebration, there will be a thanksgiving service followed by a buffet supper on April 23 6pm, tickets £6, contact St Paul’s for details.
