BRINSWORTH PARISH COUNCIL: Residents are being urged to clear up after their dogs following a spate of dog fouling in the village. The parish council has expressed concern over dog mess and littering and has appealed to people to take their rubbish home and use a poop scoop. The council employs a litter picker who cleans up around the village but episodes of littering have increased. The parish council is waiting to see if its stage two application for a new resource centre for the village has been successful. A meeting with assessors from the Regeneration and Communities Fund is planned to assess the justification for need. A decision on the building is expected during the next couple of months. A meeting with church commissioners was held to discuss plans for the future of St George’s Church which is deteriorating. An option is to reduce the building to a height of two metres and which would leave brickwork and other achitectural remnants and to create a community peace garden. This would be maintained as part of the churchyard grounds by the Friends of St George’s Church group. It is now being planned to look at funding options. The parish council is looking to purchase a defibrillator for patrons using the community centre, pavilion and the football pitches. It would be situated on an external wall and would cost £1,500 including the storage cabinet. The parish council is looking for shops and businesses in Brinsworth to contribute to providing a defibrillator in the shops area at Brinsworth Lane. CCTV is being installed around the pavilion and community hall to increase security and reassure patrons following a couple of incidents of anti-social behaviour before Christmas. Clerk Peter Collins said: “The incidents were dealt with by the police but the parish council feel that the CCTV will give people reasurrance that if any incidents occur we will be able to prosecute if need be.”
