BRAITHWELL YORKSHIRE COUNTRYWOMEN’S ASSOCIATION: The March meeting was a celebration of the branch’s 33rd anniversary. Members and guests from visiting branches had a supper. Entertainment included quizzes, sketches and monologues. A special anniversary card was received from the Thorne branch. The competition for a decorated egg was 1 Jill Pawson, 2 Janet Walters, 3 Sandra Dyson. There was a recent visit to Cutlers’ Hall in Sheffield. The assistant beadle gave a conducted tour of the Grade II listed building. Diary dates – April 13: West Riding spring lunch at Hambleton Village Hall, speaker Katie Chaplin; April 14: Walking Group TBA; May 18: AGM at Askham Bryan College, York, speaker Sir Gary Verity; May 25: West Riding choir concert at Rogerthorpe Manor, Badsworth, Songs from the Shows. The April meeting will be held The Ruddle Centre, Braithwell 7.30pm, speaker Ernest Bridgewood on Oh Brother, What a Journey. The competition is a photograph of yourself from the past. There will be a toast for the Queen.
