AREA ASSEMBLY: A meeting of Rother Valley West Area Assembly was held in Aston Parish Hall on March 14. Two police representatives discussed issues affecting Thurcroft, Orgreave, Catcliffe and Aston with anti-social behaviour and off-road vehicle nuisance. Public question time included a report about the lack of surveillance at the Thurcroft Colliery site where regular incidents take place with four-track vehicles, vans and off-road motorcycles causing trouble for local residents near the park. A presentation and consultation was given by RMBC representatives on Early Help Year One Savings which outlined the reorganisation of family help through youth clubs, schools, hospitals etc offering help to families at the start of difficult situations. The next meeting is on May 16 2pm in Catcliffe Parish Hall.

 

ASTON FOOTPATH WALKERS: The 8.5 miles walk on March 24 was from Fox House to White Edge, Clod Hall Cross Roads, Burchin Edge, Robin Hood Pub and Baslow.

CHRIST CHURCH, SWALLOWNEST: Rev Sarah Colver conducted her final service at Christ Church before taking up the role of assistant priest at St Mark’s in Broomhill, Sheffield. After the service the congregation of All Saints, Aston were joined with those from Holy Trinity, Ulley for a celebration drink and cake. Sarah was thanked for her hard work. A farewell gift of a cheque was presented to her.
