Waves music festival makes a splash at Manvers Lake

HUNDREDS flocked to a lakeside beauty spot to support the first ever Waves Music Festival.

The musical celebration at Manvers Lake featured bands and singers drawn from the Dearne Valley and beyond.

Local folk rock legends Stafford Galli were the headline act, while Abba Dreams paid tribute to the Swedish Eurovision icons.

Also among the performers was Alice Ede, a 17-year-old singer-songwriter whose song “Out This City” can be heard in the new Netflix Full Monty series.

The bill also included Conisbrough-based Jumpers and Collars, who got the party started and Sheffield act Sumo, whose set was packed with covers from the likes of Arctic Monkeys and The Killers.

Chris Wordsworth of Manvers Events said: “This fantastic lakeside setting is the perfect backdrop for a music festival.

“It really brought the community together and to see the huge smiles on peoples faces made it all worthwhile.

“Hopefully this is the first of many festivals and events to take advantage of this wonderful lakeside setting.”
