Vote for Beanfest in national awards

ORGANISERS of a charity music festival are urging members of the public to give it a vote after being nominated for a prestigious national award.

BeanFest, which is based at Roundwood Farm in Rawmarsh, has reached the final nominations in the Small Festival Category of the UK Festival Awards.

The annual gathering has grown from humble beginnings when 250 people attended six years ago and is now a full-day festival with over 3,000 revellers enjoying the live acts earlier this year.

It has reached its target of raising £20,000 for Bluebell Wood since its inception and is now supporting Hallam FM’s Cash for Kids charity.

The festival was set up in memory of music lover Rob “Bean” Crook, who tragically lost his life in a traffic accident at the age of 23.

BeanFest event director and friend of Rob, Simon Hartley said: “This nomination is a real achievement for all of us at BeanFest.

“To be recognised for our work over the past six years is mind blowing and just to be in with a chance of winning this prestigious award is humbling and an honour.”

Rob’s mum Dorothy Crook, who is a director of BeanFest, said: “This award nomination is testament to the hard work all the team put in each year.

“We are so proud of the team and to win this award would be a great tribute to Rob, creating a piece of history for him, our chosen charities and Rotherham as a town.”

Voting closes on October 28 and the prizes will be presented on November 28.
