The It’s our Heritage! Conisbrough and Denaby group, which organised the event, said wet weather had failed to put off plenty of visitors from flocking through the doors.

Re-enactment group Sudrjorvik set up an encampment showing how Vikings would have lived in early medieval times and also showed off their fighting skills.

Sudrjorvik recently featured in the Channel 4’s Britain's Viking Graveyard documentary.

The group were joined by members of the Bodgers pole lathe wood turning group and Anglo-Saxon group Inferna Peditum.
