Vauxhall Viva auction for Bluebell Wood

A CAR dealership is set to support a Rotherham children’s hospice with the charity auction of a classic motor sold by one of its salesman more than 36 years ago.

Perrys wheeled out the pristine Vauxhall Viva (pictured) ahead of Rotherham United’s game against Crewe Alexandra at the New York Stadium on Saturday as part of a tour aiming to raise funds for Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice.

When it was originally sold by Perrys salesman David Totty in 1977, Luke Skywalker did not know that Darth Vader was his father, the Queen was about to celebrate her Silver Jubilee and Abba was at number one with Knowing Me, Knowing You.

Today, the Gold coloured Viva has just 11,000 miles on the clock and has only ever had one owner.

Now it is set to go under the hammer in an ebay internet auction.

David said: “The Viva was an exciting car.

“It had a modern look and its styling was so ahead of its time.

“As a sales executive, the Vauxhall Viva was a great car to sell because of its unique appearance.

“The particular model that Perrys have is still in such great condition, it really is a rarity.

“It’s only done 11,000 miles and is in mint condition.

“The previous owner took great care of the car and it really does show.

“I remember the excitement of the previous owner when he first purchased it. Hopefully the next owner will feel the same.”
