Tuning up for Conisbrough Music Fest

YOUNG musicians are tuning up for their day in the spotlight next weekend.

Conisbrough will host its first Music Fest this year on the welfare field on Gardens Lane next Saturday.

It has been launched by the Conisbrough Music Fest committee with the backing of bands and musicians such as Automatic Thrill, The Starkins, Fluidity, Ramble Gamble and Ginger Tom, who played for free at promotional events at the Castle Bar and Hill Top Hotel.

Singers Sam Wright and Darren Eastell played at the Conisbrough Christmas Market and Summer Gala to make people aware of the event.

St Harlot will headline the main stage at 9pm, while Niamh Wilkinson will kick off proceedings at noon.

There are five stages, including a DJ stage, acoustic stage, new talent stage and heritage stage, with 34 acts performing, plus a free acoustic

Students from De Warenne Academy will also play at local venues on festival day, while DJ Paul Prendergast, aka DJ Prendi, has organised a range of mixing specialists covering a range of music styles.

The Music Fest will also feature street dancing worksops from noon to 4pm, plus food stalls, a licensed bar, fairground and music workshops.

The event is being partly bankrolled by a £500 online Crowdfunder appeal and the sale of T-shirts, mugs and keyrings, as well as contributions and sponsorship from Conisbrough businesses.

Entry is £6.50 for adults and £2.50 for children aged ten to 16 with under-10s are free.

Early bird tickets priced at £5 (£2 for under-16s) are available from Conisbrough Library and several shops in the town displaying the Music Fest sign and at a town centre busking event outside Weldricks Chemist’s between 10 am and noon on Saturday, which will feature acoustic artists Sam Wright, Darren Eastell and Niamh Wilkinson.
