Triple decker dance delight at Doncaster theatre

A TRIPLE bill of choreography from a leading dance company will be performed on stage next month.

The award-winning National Dance Company Wales is set to perform at Doncaster’s Cast theatre on November 4 as part of an Autumn tour.

The show will include A Mighty Wind which is the first UK commission of choreographer Jeroen Verbruggen.

It draws on the experience of a stadium rock concert combined with an exploration of wind as a force and a catalyst for change.

Swedish choreographer Johan Inger’s Walking Mad is a piece of dance for nine dancers set to the rousing sounds of Ravel’s Bolero and music by Arvo Pärt.

Dutch choreographer Alexander Ekman’s Tuplet is an exploration of the simple notion of rhythm in which the dancers’ breath and bodies create a powerful drumming soundtrack, combined with pounding electronic accompaniment.

Paul Kaynes, chief executive of NDCWales, said: “Our aim is to show people just how exciting dance can be, and raise the profile of dance across Wales and beyond.

“We have superb dancers – from Wales, the rest of the UK and across Europe – who are excellent ambassadors for the vibrancy of the dance scene in Wales.”

There are opportunities at Cast for ticket holders to see the company’s dance class prepare before the show.

NDCWales will perform at Cast on November 4, starting at 7.30pm.

Tickets are £16.50 or £14.50 concessions, available to book on 01302 303 959 or at castindoncaster.com.
