Tribute to United fan
Actor Michael Fenton Stevens from TV comedy Benidorm has provided raffle prizes for the family-friendly fixture at the Swallownest MW ground on Saturday, August 6, in tribute to David Rudman, who died following a short battle with pneumonia and liver and kidney failure two years ago.
“Saturday Night” singer Whigfield has sent a signed photo and Fleetwood Town stopper Luc Rees a pair of match-worn goalkeeper gloves.
Tickets to a Millers game, donated by Rotherham Glass, will also be up for grabs.
A David Rudman FC team will take on a Supporting Charities XI and funds raised will be split between The Rotherham Hospital and Community Charity and Cash for Kids.
David was cared for at Rotherham Hospital by an “amazing team of doctors and nurses”, said David’s son, Mark.
He added: “We had more than 200 people attend the first charity match last year and it would be great to get even more support this time because it is more family-friendly.
“We have live music, food, drink and stalls and lots for the kids, like Sonic the Hedgehog, Elsa and Bumblebee mascots.
“We also hope to have stars from Emmerdale and Hollyoaks in the teams.”
The memorial match is free to attend and kicks off at 1pm.
