Trans-Atlantic sounds come to Maltby for folk gig

FOLK fans can look forward to a host of Trans-Atlantic melodies and bluesy-folk brilliance at a gig in Maltby tomorrow night.

The Wesley Centre at Maltby is welcoming guitar and fiddle duo Brooks Williams and Aaron Catlow.

Cambridge UK-based US-born guitarist Williams has a long-standing solo career in both North America and the UK and is also known for his collaborations with the likes of Dan Walsh, Sloan Wainwright, Boo Hewerdine and Rab Noakes, among others and is named one of WUMB-FM Boston’s Top 100 All-Time Artists.

Catlow is a master violinist and half of the Bristol-based duo Hawes & Catlow, with guitarist-singer Kit Hawes.

He is also the fiddler in UK festival favourite Sheelanagig and Catlow’s other credits, including playing with Grammy Award-nominated Yola, Mad Dog McCrea and Afro Celt Sound System.

The pair’s chance meeting on tour in The Netherlands led to the two collaborating on two recordings Ghost Owl, a collection of guitar & fiddle duets written for, and inspired by the barn owl, which was shortlisted by FATEA for album of the year.

Ready For The Times followed in 2022.

Tickets are priced at £14 and available from the venue on 01709 811118, [email protected] or online at wegottickets.com.
