Top cop's roadshow offers people chance to voice their views

Chief Constable Stephen Watson will host an interactive roadshow at Mexborough Library.

It will be part of a series of roadshows to take place as South Yorkshire Police begins an internal review of local policing.

The Mexborough meeting kicks off at 6.30pm. 

Over the coming weeks, Mr Watson will visit communities across the county, conducting a live survey with those who attend.

The views and concerns voiced at the events will mark the start of a programme of engagement and help police chiefs’ assessment of the force’s neighbourhood service.  

Mr Watson said: “We are keen to work with the public in the very early stages of our local policing review, to ensure we listen to views, establish what a new neighbourhood service means to communities and enable us to take an informed approach to future change.

“I look forward to meeting with many people from across South Yorkshire at these initial roadshows, to further understand how we can better provide them with the service they require.”

Following a presentation and live audience survey, a question and answer session will be held with Mr Watson.

Anyone who cannot attend the roadshow is urged to tweet their views to the police.
