'Timeless classic' is coming to the Civic

ROTHERHAM Theatrical Student Academy is performing the timeless classic West Side Story at Rotherham Civic Theatre this month.

An RTSA spokesperson said: “As the region’s leading youth theatre company, RTSA has built a reputation for delivering high-quality productions that showcase the incredible talent of young performers.

“Directed and choreographed by the renowned Dee Bennie Marshall, this production promises to be a spectacular showcase of music, dance, and drama.

“With years of experience and a passion for nurturing young talent, Dee brings her expert touch to this breath-taking production, ensuring a performance that is both visually stunning and emotionally powerful.”

Set in 1950s New York, West Side Story is a modern-day retelling of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, following the heart-wrenching love story of Tony and Maria, caught between rival gangs, and features some of musical theatre’s most iconic songs, including Tonight, America, and Somewhere.

The show runs from Tuesday March 11-Saturday, March 15.
