Theatre skills masterclass for youngsters

YOUNG people can learn theatre skills in a series of masterclasses and workshops later this month.

The Cast Theatre in Doncaster is holding its Performance Theatre Camps which will include nationally acclaimed writer and director Matthew Bugg and This Is England actor Stacey Sampson.

Actor Jow Rose and choreographer Sarah Belk will also be taking part.

Performance Theatre Camp students will create a new work to be performed on Cast’s main stage, whilst the Technical Theatre Camp led by Cast’s technical director Matt Young will use their skills behind the scenes.  

Sarah Clough, Cast’s artistic associate (creative learning and engagement), said: “At the heart of Cast is a desire to engage and reach out to all the people through high quality and exciting arts experiences.

“Our Summer Theatre Camps are an exciting opportunity to bring local people into the heart of Cast, to have a brilliantly fun and artistically excellent experience.

“By opening our doors and spaces, the Theatre Camps provide a fantastic opportunity for Doncaster participants to develop their artistic skills and work with theatre professionals in our state-of-the-art theatre.”

Cast Summer Theatre Camps are available to all young people aged 12 upwards, and evening masterclasses are for those aged 18-plus.

They will run from July 18 to 30.
