Maltby-based Lost Chord UK’s Soup and Song scheme involves free 90-minute sessions featuring Lost Chord UK musicians, community singing and a light soup lunch.

After a successful trial at St Gerard’s Catholic Church in Thrybergh last year, the project was extended to cover Maltby, Dinnington, Kimberworth, Ravenfield and the New York Stadium in Rotherham.

Now the winning blend of music and companionship is coming to Wales Kiveton Methodist Church thanks to a £500 donation from the Gripple Foundation – the charity and community arm of the South Yorkshire manufacturer.

Lost Chord UK chief executive Clare Langan said: “Paul Joynes of Wales Kiveton Methodist Church reached out to me as he had heard how amazing our sessions were and asked if we could bring Lost Chord UK magic to his community.”

The monthly sessions are expected to begin at the church on September 14.
