Tesco pledges to boost customers' foodbank donations

SUPERMARKET giant Tesco is appealing to shoppers to back its annual pre-Christmas foodbank appeal.

Last year saw Rotherham customers donating 8,716 meals through the Trussell Trust appeal.

The company is now urging people across the UK to donate generously from today until Saturday to foodbanks run by the Trussell Trust and FareShare.

Donations can be made in the special foodbank boxes at Tesco stores in Rotherham, Wath and Dinnington.

All donations will be boosted by an extra 30 per cent from Tesco in the form of cash donations to the charities.
