Special time at Age UK Christmas concert

COMMITTED volunteers, pensioners and special guests gathered for Age UK Rotherham’s annual Christmas concert.

The Deputy Mayor and Mayoress of Rotherham, Cllr Christopher Middleton and Mrs Ann Middleton were also among the guests at Clifton Methodist Church last Thursday.

The event included a carol service, a two-course Christmas lunch and a party.

Lesley Dabell, Age UK Rotherham’s chief executive, said: “It was wonderful to see people smiling and enjoying themselves throughout the event.

“Occasions like this provide a great opportunity for older people to have a good time with others at this special time of year.

“Our fantastic supporters this year, Mears Group and Asda in the Community, worked really hard to ensure everyone had an afternoon to remember.

“However, it's important to keep in mind that so many older people are affected by loneliness all year round, not just at Christmas.”
