South Yorkshire music charity welcomes new patron

A SOUTH Yorkshire organisation which gives very young children access to the joy of music has become a charity and welcomed a classical superstar patron

Concerteenies has reached around 10,000 young people in the last year through babies’ relaxation concerts, family gigs, and schools and nursery projects.

It's interactive live music events came to Rotherham schools and venues earlier this year, including an event featuring cellist Elliott Bailey who was born in the borough and has performed across the globe including at this year's Brit Awards.

Now the Sheffield-based organisation has become a charity and welcomed patron Roderick Williams OBE, one of the country’s most sought-after baritones and composers.

He was personally chosen by King Charles III to write new music for the Coronation and also sang at the ceremony.

Roderick said: “I am privileged to be Concerteenies’ new charity patron to help spread the word about their work across the country.
