School Pride Club appeals for donations for fundraising raffle

STUDENTS holding a fundraiser at a Mexborough school to support an LGBTQ+ charity are appealing for raffle prizes to help boost their takings.

STUDENTS holding a fundraiser to support an LGBTQ+ charity are appealing for raffle prizes to help boost their takings.

Laurel Academy’s Pride Club meet weekly and ethics, philosophy and citizenship lead Adam Whenman, who oversees the group, said it had become “a really bubbling community of students that are usually on the outskirts of school society”.

The club are marking Pride Month with by holding a raffle and baking a pride cake, as well as a “Guess the number of sweets in a jar” contest.

They are appealing to businesses and individuals to donate prizes to their raffle, which will be run from noon to 1pm on Friday.
