Santa dash for Hana is back

A FUN run in memory of a popular teacher will return next month.

On December 3, runners will be once again taking part in a Santa Dash at Manvers Lake in memory of Hana Szczepkowski, who died of cancer aged only 31.

The event, which also includes a fun run, aims to keep Hana’s memory alive and raise funds for the cancer charity Team Verrico, who gave her hope and support throughout her illness.

The run will take place on Saturday, December 3, with a fun run from 10am and the Santa Dash at 10.30am.

Mark Benton, chair of Manvers Waterfront Boat Club, said: “This charity dash and fun run has been held at Manvers for a number of years and we are delighted that it is going ahead once again.

“Not only is it great fun but money is being raised for a great cause.

This isn’t a race but prizes will be awarded for best fancy dress and fastest time in the distance covered.

“After the run come and join the team and have a cake and a drink in the boathouse.

“There will be stalls and a raffle and you will have a chance to meet Team Vericco themselves.”

The fun run is one lap of the lake — 2km — and can be walked, jogged or  run, while the Santa Dash can be one, two or three laps.

Fancy dress is encouraged.
