RSPB calling all birdwatchers

TWITCHERS are being invited to take part in one of the country’s biggest bird surveys this weekend with a special event at the RSPB’s Old Moor reserve.

The RSPB wants people to spend an hour this weekend counting the birds in the garden or local park in its annual Big Garden birdwatch.

And there will be a special event at Old Moor on Sunday to youngsters join in.

The event will consist of various activities, from identifying the birds on your survey to creating a banner to celebrate the garden birds of Old Moor, at Old Moor Lane, Wombwell.

There will be competitions, prizes and bird demonstrations in the visitor centre.

The event runs from 10am to 3pm and costs £4 for adults, £8 for families, and £2 for children.
