REVIEW: Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, Sheffield City Hall
FIREWORKS were in abundance for a bonfire-night of favourite classical music.
The Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, under the direction of conductor and arranger, Richard Balcombe, performed Classic FM’s Hall of Fame – including Mozart, Elgar, Vaughan Williams and Tchaikovsky.

The radio station’s poll also gave top billing to black female composer Florence Price – with her Symphony Number 1: Juba Dance extremely well received.
Star of the show was the orchestra’s principal clarinettist, Miquel Ramos Salvado, performing Mozart’s acclaimed Clarinet Concerto.
And a fabulous rendition of Arturo Marquez’s brilliantly festive Conga del Fuego Nuevo rounded off a real cracker.
Classic FM's weekend breakfast host Tim Lihoreau was on hand to do the introductions – from Handel’s Music for royal Fireworks to Stravinsky’s Firebird finale – on a night where the music really did the talking.
