REMEMBRANCE: Tributes from the Academy

STUDENTS have paid their own tributes to the fallen with poppy-inspired art installations.

The Laurel Academy at Mexborough has a display of more than 250 handmade poppies in the grounds which takes inspiration from the award-winning Tower of London exhibition Blood Swept Lands and Seas of Red.

Sarah Hague, head of expressive arts, said: “Pupils have also been working outside of lessons to paint a moving mural that has been displayed in the centre of the school.

“They have worked so hard and are so proud of the art they have created.”
