But in 2015, Ray returned to the recording studio to start work on his second album, eight years after the release of his debut album ‘Doing It My Way’, which reached number one in the UK charts.

The ‘No Man’s Land’ tour will preview Ray’s new album which is due out next year.

Ray (28), said: “I'm looking forward to coming to Rotherham, the tour itself is something I've been looking forward to for a long time.

“I've been working on the new album for 18 months and I can’t wait to get it out there and to see peoples’ reactions, I'm excited.”

Ray said his new album is “written from the heart” and is inspired by a number of experiences that have shaped his own life. It is about the real Ray Quinn coming to the fore, instead of a character he is playing.

He said: “Experiences in my life have shaped this album, I needed something to focus my mind and I used my passion for music.

“This is me, I've played a lot of roles in musicals and TV shows, this is just me.

People see the real side when it’s my own music, because I’m writing about things I’ve gone through.

“This is me trying to find me.
