ROTHERHAM’S photographers are hoping to inspire the borough’s wordsmiths with a new exhibition later this month.

Rotherham Photographic Society wants local poets to write verses to go with pictures which will on on display in the  Gallery @ Riverside from February 25 to March 23.

Riverside's new adult creative writing group and local poetry collective, ROMP, will be supporting the exhibition with poems to be read out at the launch event on Tuesday February 26 at 7pm.

The gallery is part of the new Library @ Riverside and cabinet member for Culture and Tourism, Cllr Any Rushforth, said: "The gallery space in Riverside House has already been home to some fantastic exhibitions, all of which have really brought art to live.

"This latest exhibition is no different. By mixing these two vibrant art forms, there's the opportunity for a truly vibrant display which aims to reach out and be genuinely inspirational.

"Hopefully, with so many creative people in Rotherham, this exhibition will help to pull the community together and help create even more amazing artwork."

Tickets for the launch are available from the Library @ Riverside, and are priced at £2, which includes a cup of tea or coffee.

Anyone interested in advised to buy a ticket in advance as space is limited.
