MOTORING: Flagship goes electric

AUDI’S flagship SUV has been re-named as the Q8 e-tron as it goes electric to take on the new Mercedes EQE.

Priced from £67,800, buyers can pick from the entry-level Q8 50 e-tron or Q8 Sportback 50 e-tron generating 340PS and a WLTP range of up to 281 miles (SUV) and up to 290 miles (Sportback) from their 95kWh battery, with the sleeker Sportback bodystyle costing an extra £2,500.

Meanwhile, Q8 55 e-tron (£77,800) and Q8 Sportback 55 e-tron versions are fitted with a whopping 114kWh battery to generate 408PS and cover up to 330 miles for the SUV and up to 343 miles for the Sportback.

Audi has said that all new car launches will be electric vehicles from 2026, with its final internal combustion engine (ICE) set to go into production in three years’ time.
